As per ET news, Apple is fast-tracking the development of the Apple Ring by securing patents related to smart rings. Last November, the company filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the electronic system used in the smart ring, which involves short-range wireless communication circuits to connect with other devices, primary smartphones, and tablets. This move suggests that Apple is gearing up for advanced development for commercial use.

The smart ring, equipped with internal sensors, NFC controller, and features, is gaining traction as a health-centric device suitable for long-term wear. According to Samsung’s hint, its smart ring is expected to be released along with the Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 at the “Unpacked” event in late July.

This Samsung smart ring will offer electrocardiogram functionality and “Blood flow measurements”, support wireless payments and device control, and come in eight different sizes.
