Apple iPhone 17 series set for major redesign, including new Ultra-Thin Model

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg recently revealed that the upcoming iPhone 16 series will see only minor adjustments compared to its predecessor, but significant changes are on the horizon for the iPhone 17 series. In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Gurman confirmed that Apple is planning to introduce an ultra-thin iPhone 17, which he referred to as an “Air” iPhone. This model is expected to sit between the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro, aiming to be more popular than the previous iPhone mini and Plus models.

Gurman also mentioned that Apple is working on bringing the performance of the Pro models to a smaller form factor, but this ambitious goal might not be realized until 2027. Additionally, there are rumors that Apple could launch an iPhone Ultra model, which would be even more appealing than the anticipated iPhone 17 Slim.

The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to receive significant upgrades, with a design similar to the iPhone 14 and the addition of Apple Intelligence, hinting at the inclusion of a high-performance chip.

Analyst Jeff Pu, in a report from May, echoed Gurman’s claims about the iPhone 17 series, predicting a “completely new design,” enhanced front cameras, and the introduction of a smaller smart island. Pu also suggested that the iPhone 17 lineup will include a new “iPhone 17 Slim” model to replace the current “Plus” variant, although this new Slim model won’t be a continuation of the previous iPhone mini series.
